												<p><a id="351" href="http://browne-associates.com/">Denver Landscape Contractors</a>, like all professionals in the country, are guided by certain rules and regulations stipulated by their respective state. For starters, they must possess the required licenses to operate the business legally. It is recommended that you also check with your city, county or municipality to ensure that the contactors have met those requirements, if existent. A second certification which does not hurt the contractors to possess is to have the initials "CLP" behind their name - Certified Landscape Professional, or its equivalent, the Certified Landscape Technician (CLT).</p>

<p>Due to the fact that when considering hiring Denver Landscape Contractors there is going to be a considerable amount of money being spent on your part, it never hurts to do a little research prior to making your final choice. It is called "doing your homework" and you are in your full right to do so.</p></td></tr><tr><td class="header3"><a name="4Stone or Wood Patio Heaters"></a>Stone or Wood Patio Heaters</td></tr><tr><td class="article">Heaters are a great addition to your <a id="658" href="http://www.browne-associates.com/denver-patios/">stone patio</a>, but caution must be exercised when you end up deciding where you want to place one. If you end up putting one near your hot tub you have to be careful that water doesn't splash on to it or that someone touches it when it is wet. You must be careful that the conditions of the patio do not encourage a fire to occur especially if your patio heater uses some kind of flammable fuel. If it does, you might not want to use it on a wooden patio and be sure to keep patio cushions away from the heater.<p>

One popular and stylish heater that people use to compliment their stone or wooden patio is a chiminea. This outdoor heating device has a sort of Oriental shape to it, resembling a pagoda. They also come in round and square shapes, and are usually made of cast iron or clay. A bonus to these is that they sometimes come available with a cooking grill. Chimineas also use charcoal or wood as their fuel source, although charcoal is the main source for cooking. The amazing design lets smoke out the top while heat bathes everything around it, but be careful not to touch the outside as it can become very hot.<p>

Installing an electric patio heater is simple because it can be positioned almost anywhere and moved very easily between indoors and outdoors. A type of patio heater is an umbrella heater, which sits on the umbrella pole. This serves a double function and is very practical for your stone or wooden patio.

<p><img src="images/landscape-design-denver-castle-rock-patio-2.jpg" alt="landscape design Denver castle rock patio images" title="An electric umbrella heater is perfect for your landscape design."><p>

A table top patio heater is another easy option. These efficient heaters usually run on electricity or gas and are quite small and portable, fitting in the center of a patio table. <p>

Having a patio heater definitely adds enjoyment to the atompshere when you're lounging or having a barbecue. The investment really pays off as they can bring much comfort throughout the year.
</td></tr><tr><td class="header3"><a name="5Preparing your flowers for your landscape design"></a>Preparing your flowers for your landscape design</td></tr><tr><td class="article"><img src="images/landscape-design-denver-castle-rock-patio-1.jpg" alt="landscape design Denver castle rock patio images" title="Beautiful flowers can be a perfect decoration for your landscape design."><p>

Picking a color pattern for the flowers decorating the outside of your home can be an adventure. You have to first think of where you intend to place these flowers, whether it's near your stone or wooden patio, or part of a <a id="659" href="http://www.browne-associates.com/castle-rock-landscape-design/">landscape design</a> you're interested in incorporating into your home. So it's best to draw up a landscape diagram of the outside area around your house.<p>

There are other factors to consider when buying the flowers. Some flowers need more sunlight so you'll have to position them in places that get more sun. Some flowers need more water than others, so logically placing them near the sprinkler system is ideal.<p>

Checking your flowers before a purchase is a good thing to remember. You can look for signs of discoloration and disease. Even if the flowers show no signs, they may show them later on so it's best to discard them right away. The reason for this is because the flower's disease can spread through the soil and possibly through the entire garden. This goes the same for bulbs.<p>

<p><img src="images/landscape-design-denver-castle-rock-patio-3.jpg" alt="landscape design Denver castle rock patio images" title="A wilted, diseased flower can spread it's disease to other flowers."><p>

Make sure to plant whichever flowers you purchase for your landscape design within seven days as this is the maximum time before the lose moisture. Planting those three days after purchase is the best way to keep them alive and healthy while they adorn your stone or wooden patio. If this is not a possibility, keep them in a cool location and help keep the roots moist, but do not soak them completely.<p>

Preparing the soil is an important factor to making the flowers last in your landscape design. You need to use fertilizers, compost, pesticides (organic) and top soil mixed in with sand granules and test the ph of the soil using a home test kit or with the help of a <a id="351" href="http://www.browne-associates.com/">Denver Landscape Contractor</a>. You also must break up the soil for the flower's roots so they can grow properly. All this involves is removing the root base from whatever holds the flowers and massaging it gently to break it up.
</td></tr><tr><td class="header3"><a name="6Watering your landscape"></a>Watering your landscape</td></tr><tr><td class="article">If you lawn is stressed out (yes, apparently that can happen) you should water at any time of the day. Although, if you are just trying to maintain your lawn in a simple way that adds to your landscape design, then you should not water it on late evenings or mid-day. When it get's watered during the lat evening, fungus can accumulate and flourish and during mid-day, the sweltering heat will waste the water you use. According to some, the ideal time to water would be in the morning.<p>

Of course, the best water to use is natural rain water, but we can't actively use that to our lawn's advantage as the weather is too chaotic depending on where you live. So the next best obvious choice would be a sprinkler.<p>

<h3>Tools for Watering Your Landscape - </h3>

<p><img src="images/landscape-design-denver-castle-rock-patio-5.jpg" alt="landscape design denver castle rock patio image" title="A typical sprinkler used for watering your landscape."><p>

There are a number of different sprinklers on the market today specifically made for watering grass. Here's a rundown:
<p>
<b>Hand-held nozzle sprayer -</b>
<p>
These are one of the easiest tools to use when it comes to watering your landscape. You just screw it on to the end of a hose and you have a hand-operated sprayer that allows you to adjust the amount of water flowing out. Although, using a hand sprayer to water your landscape takes quite a bit of time, which is its drawback. It also doesn't allow for the water to flow evenly so some parts of your lawn may not get watered as much as others.
<p>
<b>Soaker Hose - </b>
<p>
Using a soaker hose allows you to water your landscape at an even rate as the water soaks into the grass. The one big issue with these garden hoses is that they may end up rotting and are not very durable. In the end, these type of hoses are best used for flowerbeds instead of watering your landscape.
<p>

<b>Fountain Sprinkler -</b>
<p>
This simple sprinkler is very effective for watering small landscape area in your yard. It's also easy to setup and is quite inexpensive.
<p>
<b>Oscillating Sprinkler -</b>
<p>
This is another simple sprinkler that's easy to setup and disperses water via a sprinkler bar that moves to and fro. This type of sprinkler works the best for square shaped landscapes, but it has to be monitored and moved every so often.
<p>
<b>Impulse Sprinkler -</b>
<p>
The impulse sprinkler attaches to the end of a hose and breaks up the water stream into a broad spray. This little sprinkler is nice because the water shoots out at a higher rate than other sprinklers. However, it does need high pressure to maintain its stream to your landscape, so using this on smaller lawns wouldn't work so well.
<p>
<b>Fan Sprinkler -</b>
<p>
The fan sprinkler pushes the water out in a circle along your landscape. If your lawn is irregularly shaped or round, this sprinkler is for you. Unfortunately, not every corner of your landscape may be reached.. Also, most of the water can evaporate before it is absorbed through the roots.

<h3>Automatic Watering System -</h3>

<p><img src="images/landscape-design-denver-castle-rock-patio-4.jpg" alt="landscape design denver castle rock patio image" title="A typical automatic system used for watering your landscape."><p>

<b>Pop-up Spray Head -</b>
<p>
A pop-up spray head sprinkler system is a heavy duty system for a heavy duty landscape. The system is nice because it utilizes high pressure with a low trajectory, which means there's less evaporation. The down side is it's expensive to buy and install, and the soil in your yard may not be able to absorb the water quick enough.
<p>
<b>Fixed-riser Spray Head -</b>
<p>
This system is heavy duty like the pop up sprayer system, but the difference is, this one is a lot cheaper to install. The only issue you may have is trying to mow around them.
<p>
A healthy landscape needs about an inch of water a week from either rain or a sprinkler. Checking out an online weather service can help you to determine the amount of rainfall. Also, be aware that if your lawn is receiving less than one inch,. You'll need to help out with some kind of sprinkler system.
<p>
If you want to be able to tell if your landscape has gotten the right amount of water, you can use several household goods to rig something up. Placing three empty cans, or rain gages at different distances around the sprinkler can help you determine the amount. After you're done, pour the water out into one can, measure it with a ruler and then divide it by three. Then you'll have the amount your landscape is getting.
<p>
If you have new seedlings on your landscape, you have to water them properly as they can die if this doesn't happen.
<p>
The seedlings themselves must remain moist to be able to flourish. Once they sprout, the top inch of the soil should never be dry until the grass is fully grown and established. To accommodate this, you need to water your landscape several times per day.
<p>
Something to remember is that the seedlings need to be consistently moist, but not soaked. Using a sprinkler with a fine spray pattern is ideal for this.
<p>
In some places, you may have water restrictions. This doesn't mean you have to stop watering your landscape. Water it as often as you can when under these restrictions.
</td></tr><tr><td class="header3"><a name="7Additions to your landscape design"></a>Additions to your landscape design</td></tr><tr><td class="article">There a number of elements that you can add to your backyard or patio to promote that summer fun. These include sprucing up or adding a deck or patio, or landscaping and adding a garden, swimming pool or hot tub.

<p><img src="images/landscape-design-denver-castle-rock-patio-8.jpg" alt="landscape design denver castle rock patio image" title="A typical deck to compliment your landscape design."><p>

<h3>Decks -</h3>

Decks are becoming extremely popular due to the fact it's a low cost way to add a little more living room to your house. They also offer the relaxing convenience of having a space to sit out on during the night or day and enjoy your backyard as well as allow for barbecues and outdoor dining.<p>

Outdoor rooms seem to becoming more and more popular as well. All over the place, warm and cold climates, people are turning their decks into full-scale kitchens or entertainment areas.<p>

If you have a small budget handy, there are three basic elements to give your deck an enjoyable atmosphere. 1) A grilling area, 2) A food prep area plus sink, and 3) a dining area. Of course, if you don't have an extravagant budge to use, you can just start with the grill. Although, before you begin cooking you'll still need to setup some kind of food preparation area, which could be as simple as come counter space.<p>

When choosing an area to dine in on your deck, it's obvious you should choose a place that is comfortable. If you're eating your meal during the day, you want to be careful of the hot sun so installing a tabletop umbrella, large trees (possibly palm for whatever theme you choose for your landscaping design) or a pergola is the perfect solutions for that.

<h3>Patios -</h3>

If you don't like working on your landscape or doing yard work (we all hate it), a small patio is a perfect low maintenance solution to your needs.<p>

Of course, just because the patio is small when compared to your landscape design, doesn't mean it can't add its own flair to it.
<p>
The material used for your patio may vary based upon personal choice or landscape theme. A popular and more common material is brick, mainly because it is durable, easy to install and comes in a wide variety of colors. Installing patio pavers is also easy and inexpensive. These also come in a variety of shapes and size, and are quite resilient. Another option is flagstone, which is precut for custom or standard sizes and comes in numerous shapes and sizes.
<p>
You can also install a box garden or plant a small patch of grass on the patio. Of course, make sure these are in semi-consistent sunlight so they do not die.<p>

Water features are a big thing nowadays. Having a small fountain or waterfall installed in your landscape design will give your patio an exotic look. The sound of running water is also relaxing and perfect or a late evening meal.<p>

Small patios can still be large enough to accommodate your family but make sure to plan out an area where you will eat. One tip is (if you're low on space) to build planters with wide borders into your patio design. These will offer seating to anyone you have over to see your landscape design.<p>

<h3>Landscape -</h3>

There is quite the variety of traditional landscape or garden styles which you could use to compliment your house. There's also room for a little creativity considering the number of styles out there. <p>

<b>English Garden Style -</b>
<p>
This uses a lot of shrubs and perennials to compliment your landscape design and the architecture of your home. Including a bird bath or possibly an arbor will add to this.<p>

<b>Oriental Landscape -</b>
<p>
Use a combination of rocks, water features and evergreens with a number of plants to show off a number of perspectives. Zen gardens are also popular Japanese-themed designs.<p>

<b>Woodland Landscape - </b>
<p>
This design is a reflection of natural plant growth in a wooded area. It's not as maintained, but that's all part of the look.<p>

<b>Butterfly Gardens -</b>
<p>
Using specific plant species to attract butterflies or other bird species can be a welcome addition to your landscape flair. <p>

<b>Xeriscape Gardens - </b>
<p>
These designs usually have a lot of plants and flowers that don't require too much water as well as setups that reduce the amount of water that evaporates.<p>

<h3>Swimming Pools/Hot Tubs -</h3>

Most vacation spots you've been to must have had a nice pool or hot tub you enjoyed while roving about. The question is, "Why should you only be able to enjoy something of that caliber when you're roving about?"<p>

When looking for a swimming pool, there are a variety of materials, which may require more maintenance than others.<p>

Fiberglass pools are good because they do not allow algae to grow, but you also have to recoat it every so often. <p>

Concrete pool designs can take quite a bit of abuse, but they need to be re-surfaced or replaced every 7-10 years. <p>

Tiled pools are basically concrete with a tile or plaster finish. The good thing about these is they require low maintenance.<p>

Pools with a vinyl liner are slick and repel algae like the fiberglass surfaces. It's also easier to maintain a ph balance. Unfortunately, they need to be replaced about every 10 years.<p>

The hot tub is the ultimate addition to your landscape design as it looks classy and is ideal for a relaxing evening. The jets and warm water can relax away your worries or muscle aches.
